The first event of the 2013 - 2014 session was a reception at the Scottish Parliament hosed by Patrick Harvie, MSP. Members had the an opportunity to discuss with MSPs at the Scottish Parliament the role of Logistics and Transport in the Scottish economy.

There were brief presentations showcasing recent developments in the profession drawing from the 2012/13 events programme covering issues such as: zero waste supply chains, customer satisfaction in rail and bus industries, the changing role of community transport, logistics and transport for the commonwealth games, competition and regulation in the bus industry, Scotland's green network, and retailing of public transport.

During the event, the outgoing Chairman, Derek Halden passed over chairmanship to Keith Evans who thanked Derek for his efforts over the preceding two years. The many guests, including Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken, were able to look forward to the year ahead and the many interesting events that have been lined up.

The event, hosted by Patrick Harvie MSP, was sponsored by Norbert Dentressangle, Swestrans, Nexus Alpha, CPT Greener Journeys, RHA, Hitrans, AECOM and DHC Loop Connections and the Scottish Region would like to extend its thank to them for their generous assistance with this event.
