Dr Karen Fryer is a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and the Programme Leader for the MSc. International Operations and Supply Chain Management. Before joining GCU, she gained over 20 years’ experience in both the public (NHS, Police, Local Government) and private sectors (manufacturing and service) as well as running a number of family businesses.
Karen teaches across a range of modules (Business Operations, Quality especially Lean and Six Sigma, Supply Chain and Logistics and Transport). Throughout her teaching, she tries to instil a responsible management ethos in the students.
Outside work, Karen is very involved in the Scouting movement and has used her logistics skills to get Scouts and the necessary kit to camps around Europe although transferring kit from one car to another in a service station car park on the M6 might have looked a bit strange! Apart from Scouts, and depending on the weather/time of day you will either find Karen outdoors (hill walking, gardening and running) or indoors (crafting, cooking or reading).
