Born in Edinburgh, William spent his primary school years in Applecross (Wester Ross) and his high school life in Tasmania. He has had a strong interest in the Transport Sector since childhood and spent his school work experience in scheduling at the local bus company.

He returned to the UK and spent some time working as a bus and coach driver before studying at Loughborough University for his degree in Transport Management and Planning which he received with First Class Honours. He was also awarded a University Prize for best student research project. In his spare time William enjoys playing the bassoon in amateur orchestras.
