Tony spent 15 years working in IT Recruitment, managed his own agency and became a Director of a £300M turnover, global recruitment group before deciding on a change of direction. He followed family into the taxi trade where he has spent 11 years.
Central Taxis is now the largest taxi operator in Edinburgh with a fleet of 465 taxis, 1200 drivers and subsidiary motor insurance and bus companies. As a Director and Vice Chairman, Tony has a focus on business development, responding to tenders and also dealing with trade issues and press.
He has become a regular commentator on transport and city developments on behalf of Central, the Edinburgh Trade and the Scottish Taxi Federation through the local press, radio, TV and being invited to consultation groups at The City of Edinburgh Council and The Scottish Parliament.
Tony has been actively involved with the Transport Forum at CEC and various spin-off consultations such as 20mph, Bus Lanes, Accessible Transport etc. and is a member of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Inspiring Transport Group.
He became an Advisory Board member of Sustrans in 2013 and joined the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport as a Chartered Member shortly after appearing as a guest speaker at a local event and then as a speaker at the annual dinner. Recently he has become a member of the European Radio Taxi Association; major European operators working together to deal with changes in technology and global transport which will affect the future of our industry.
