Topic & Speaker:Developing Scottish Railfreight with Julian Worth CMILT, Chair, CILT(UK) Rail Freight Forum: David Prescott FCILT, Scottish railway consultant & Dougie Adamson CMILT, Agilent Technology

Event Details: Despite the loss of traditional traffic like coal and steel, Scotland with its long distances and exporting tradition of whisky and foodstuffs should be prime territory for railfreight. Julian Worth from the Rail Freight Forum will tell us about the favourable policy background which could enable railfreight to help address climate change and the pandemic aftermath. Rail operator and consultant David Prescott FCILT will explain the effort needed in the industry and government to deliver an infrastructure that is fit for purpose. Scottish logistician Dougie Adamson will consider what would persuade the customer to make greater use of railfreight.
